The monthly OARC Club Meetings will continue to be held at the Golden Corral Restaurant until construction of the Emergency Operations Center is completed. The restaurant is located at 2055 N Marine Blvd, Jacksonville, NC 28546. Our meeting begins at 9 am; however, we have the meeting room reserved beginning at 8:30 am. Feel free to come early and enjoy breakfast with us before the meeting. Hopefully, we will be back at our regular meeting location later this spring or early summer.
Hi
I have recently moved to the Jacksonville area and would like to get to know operators in the area.
I am looking to purchase some equipment for local comms (looking at an ht setup).
I am from Sioux Falls SD where 2m is dead and the enthusiasm is shallow. Is this the case here? Should I look for a different operation. I am starting over. Please feel free to contact me. lcain2024@gmail.com
I’m sorry it’s taken so long to answer your question, but no, this isn’t the case here. We have a vibrant and active club. The repeaters are fairly active in the mornings and afternoons and we have several nets that meet at 8pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday on 147.000 for the first two and 444.675 for the last. Our club is active in the community offering auxiliary comm for community events and we also support Winter and Summer Field Day and the North Carolina QSO Party. We’re never far from participating in something. Our ARES coordinator keeps us busy with exercises, both VHF/UHF and HF. If you haven’t already visited us at a club meeting, come join us on the first Saturday of each month at 9am in the county EOC, 1180 Commons Drive North in Jacksonville. Looking forward to meeting you.
